Although we are not governed by the statutory holidays for schools, we follow the ESF schools calendar. During every year we have 5 teacher training days built into the calendar. This is in addition to the contact days with children. These CPD days are added onto our calendar not removed from the contact days with children.

Please find the school calendar for Abacus Calendar for 2018-2019  here.

K2 Teatowels

The K2 children have all drawn themselves ready to be printed on a K2 leaving teatowel. We make one of these each year, they make a great present for family and are a lovely memory of your child’s time at Abacus. If you would like to order one please order using the form here. K1 Art Exhibition

The K1 Art exhibition was a fantastic way for the K1 children to show case their learning and artwork to parents. The children enjoyed showing their parents all the different art skills they have learned and their finished art work. Here are some pictures from the day. Art Exhibition photos.

Staffing 2018/19

We have a few staff changes now happening at Abacus for next year. Allison Banbury has been successfully appointed as the new Principal of Tung Chung Kindergarten, we wish her the best of luck in her new role next year. Julie Rose will be returning to the UK for family reasons and Sue Tyson has expressed a wish to move from full time to part time next year.

This morning we held interviews and Fiona Hall was interviewed and appointed as our temporary VP/PYP coordinator for 1 year. Fiona has many years teaching experience and is highly regarded as a teacher. She has been successfully leading several curriculum areas and initiatives at Abacus as well as providing training and support for other kindergartens and schools in Hong Kong. We believe Fiona will be a great addition to the leadership team next year.

Hannah Smith was interviewed as a class teacher in January and has now been offered a 1 year teaching role to fill the teaching role vacated by Fiona. Hannah holds a Bachelors Degree and a PGCE in Early Years Education. We are currently in the process of recruiting an educational assistant to complete the teams.

Notice to Withdraw
